Despite the short notice, I like the advance communication provided by this company.

We are sending out a special email broadcast to announce that we will be
having a planned downtime on Monday, September 10, beginning at around
noon, Arizona time (UTC-7). This downtime is expected to last between four
and eight hours and will affect all services.

The brief explanation for this downtime is that we are moving our
equipment from one datacenter to another, which entails shutting it all
off, loading it in a truck, and driving across town.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you about (or make
sure you are aware of) our blog and offsite network status page.

The NearlyFreeSpeech.NET blog is our primary means of communicating with
our members, and is found here:

The blog *will* be affected by the downtime, so you should also be
familiar with our offsite network status page, which *will not* be
affected, and which will be continuously updated throughout the downtime:

This move will enable us to quickly and dramatically improve the quality
of our service, as well as remove several barriers to our long-term
expansion, but even so, we understand that it is a terrible inconvenience
to all of our members and it was a difficult decision for us.

For full details on this planned downtime, please visit our blog entry on
the subject:

(or if your email client splits the long URL)

We apologize in advance profoundly for the inconvenience and the
relatively short notice.
